Goutham Krishna perfect at Future Chess Academy’s Rapid Rating Open 2026
IM Goutham Krishna H scored a perfect 9/9 to win Future Chess Academy’s Rapid Rating Open 2026. Five players – Arush A, IM P D S Girinath, Mani Bharathy, John Veny Akkarakaran and Arul Anandh S P K scored 8/9 each. They secured second to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹401000. The top three prizes were ₹25000 + trophy, ₹15000 + trophy and ₹10000 each respectively.
Goutham’s third rating tournament triumph of the year
The top seed of the tournament, IM Goutham Krishna H made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. A dozen players were trailing him by a full point at 7/8 each. Although, Goutham needed only a draw in the final round to become a clear champion, Goutham went for the maximum against CM Aadik Theophane Lenin. Thus, Goutham won the tournament with a 100% score. Arush A defeated Ajjesh J R to secure second place. S Rutherford lost to the veteran IM P D S Girinath who finished third.

A total of 487 players including two IMs took part from various parts of the country and one from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Future Chess Academy at Paramekkavu Vidyamandir in Thrissur, Kerala on 19th April 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
