FIDE Rating List August 2026: Pranesh M becomes India no.8 and World no.44

Arjun Erigaisi stays at World Top 9 in FIDE Rating list August 2026. There are still 14 Indian in Top 100 and ten in Top 100 Women.

14 Indians still in Top 100

Arjun Erigaisi maintained his place at World no.9 after he finished third at Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2026. He gained 1.5 Elo rating points at that event.

R Praggnanandhaa’s third place finish at Grand Chess Tour Super Rapid and Blitz 2026, gained him some Rapid and Blitz Rating points. Since he did not play any Classical rated games, his Classical rating remained unchanged. His rank moved by one place from World no.11 to 12.

Nihal Sarin added 1.1 Elo rating points at Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2026 to remain at World no.25.

World Champion D Gukesh lost 13.9 Elo rating points at Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2026. He is now World no.31 with a 2703 Elo rating.

Aravindh Chithambaram did not play any Classical rated game, still he moved up by a place to World no.42.

Pranesh M increased his Elo rating by 6.6 points at Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2026, moving up by three places to World no. 44.

The reigning World Junior champion, Pranav Venkatesh added 3.5 Elo rating points by winning 47th Taça de Portugal 2025-26 and finishing third at Portugal National Championship 1st Division 2025-26.

Raunak Sadhwani increased his Elo rating by 6.3 points at Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix Masters 2026. He moved up twelve places from World no.92 to 80.

Aryan Chopra advanced two places to World no.87, although he did not play any rated game in July.

Leon Luke Mendonca returned to World Top 100 for the first time since April 2025. His third place finish at Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix Masters 2026 earned him 15 Elo rating points and now he is World no.95.

Women: Ten Indians in Top 100

Four Indians are still in top 25. They are – GM Humpy Koneru, World no.8, GM Divya Deshmukh, World no.13, GM R Vaishali, World no.14 and GM Harika Dronavalli, World no.21 among women. Among them, only Vaishali played at Biel Chess Festival 2026 GMT Challengers. She lost 7.4 Elo rating points and dropped two places to World no.14 among Women.

Brand Ambassador of LG India, IM Vantika Agrawal gained 5.7 Elo rating points at Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix Masters 2026. Vantika moved four places from World no.51 to 47.

WIM Aamuktha Guntaka increased her Elo rating by 24.6 points at two IM round-robin tournaments in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her rating is now 2376. She moved up 23 places from World no. 85 to 62.

The newly crowned Asian Individual Women 2026 champion, IM Savitha Shri B took part in Biel Chess Festival Masters 2026 tournament. She gained 6.5 Elo rating points there, moved up by four places from 69 to 65.

WGM Rakshitta Ravi increased her Elo rating by 3.8 points at Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix Masters 2026.

IM Padmini Rout’s stellar performance at 30th Jean-Claude Loubatière 2026 earned her a total of 9.9 gain in the month of July and helped her to return above 2350.
