S Rohith Krishna wins 1st Les Menuires Masters 2026, Raja Rithvik R second

GM S Rohith Krishna and GM Raja Rithvik R scored an unbeaten 7/9 each at 1st Les Menuires Masters (≥1900) 2026. Rohith won the tournament on tie-breaks, Raja Rithvik finished second.

Rohith’s second triumph of the year, three Indians in top five

GM S Rohith Krishna was the sole leader 6.5/8, heading into the final round. GM Narayanan S L, GM Emin Ohanyan (ARM), GM Christian Bauer and GM Raja Rithvik R were trailing by a half point at 6/8 each. Rohith drew against Narayanan to become the champion, Narayanan finished fourth. GM Maxime Lagarde (FRA) lost to Raja Rithvik and the latter finished second. This is Rohith’s second rating tournament triumph of the year. He also won a Rapid segment of a Biathlon (Rapid and Blitz combined) in Latvia last month.

WGM Mariam Mkrtchyan (ARM) scored 6/9, finished ninth overall, earned her second IM-norm and also won the Best Woman first prize. IM Nisha Mohota scored 5.5/9, secured 24th place overall and won Best Woman second prize. She mentioned on an instagram post on her profile that she got the highest prize in an open tournament in her career so far. Another Indian, Deekshitha Modipalli claimed the third prize in the same category scoring 4.5/9.

The total prize fund was €25000 combining all three events, €20000 in Masters (≥1900). The top three prizes were €3000, €2000 and €1500 along with a trophy each.

Total participation was 223 players – 86 in Masters (≥1900), 71 in Accession (1550-2000) and 66 in Future (<1600).

A total of 86 players including 12 GMs, 7 IMs and a WGM took part from 16 countries across the world in Masters (≥1900). The eight-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Echecs Club de Corbas Mions at Le Break des Ménuires in les Ménuires, France from 11th to 18th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
