IM Utsab Chatterjee scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Rangamati Rapid Rating Open 2026.

Ayush Nath wins Blitz Rating Open

IM Utsab Chatterjee made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row in Rapid. Paramarth Mitra was the sole player trailing him by a half point at 7.5/8. Utsab drew against Parmarth to become a clear champion, Paramarth finished second. Shankhadeep Maity lost to Ranity Maity and the latter claimed third place. This was Utsab’s first rating tournament triumph of the year.

Shankhadeep Maity and FM Aayush Bhattacharjee were coleaders at 7.5/8 each, heading into the final round of Bitz. FM Suvradeepta Das lost to Ayush Nath and the latter became the champion. WFM Sneha Halder suffered defeat against Soham Dey and the latter finished second. Aayush went down against Utsab who finished third. This is Ayush’s first rating tournament victory of his career.

The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes in Rapid and Blitz were ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each.

Ayush Nath scored 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and increased his Blitz Elo rating by 42 points

A total of 490 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country. The two-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by All Birbhum District Chess Association at Techno India Group Public School, Bolpur in Birbhum, West Bengal on 13th and 14th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.

Final standings in Rapid Rating

A total of 466 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Blitz Rating Open tournament was organized by All Birbhum District Chess Association at Techno India Group Public School, Bolpur in Birbhum, West Bengal on 14th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
