Rejath Renjith dominates 9th Chessmii Rapid Rating Open 2026
Rejath Renjith scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 9th Chessmii Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Rejath’s first rating tournament triumph of his career
14-year-old Rejath Renjith made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Christy George was the sole pursuer at 7.5/8. Christy drew against Rejath and the latter became a clear champion. Rutherford S lost to Ebin Benny who secured second place. FM Adithya A Chullikkad defeated IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam to finish third.
The total prize fund was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹15000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each respectively.

A total of 263 players including two IMs and a WIM took part from various parts of the country, one from France, Germany, Kenya and two from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Chessmii.com at Nava Nirman Silver Jubilee Indoor Stadium in Ernakulam, Kerala on 26th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
