Saravana Krishnan triumphs at 2nd Warrior Chess Academy Rating Open 2026

IM P Saravana Krishnan, Vijay Shreeram P, IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam, Sivan S Roshan, Mrityunjay Kumar and Sidharth Mohan scored 7.5/9 each at 2nd Warrior Chess Academy Rating Open 2026. Saravana won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining five were placed second to fifth respectively. The total prize fund was ₹700000. The top three prizes were ₹50001 + Smart tv, ₹40000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each.

Saravana’s first tournament victory of the year

Vijay Shreeram P, Bhaavan Kolla and Sivan S Roshan were the three leaders at 7/8 each, going into the last round. Bhaavan lost to IM P Saravana Krishnan and the latter became the champion. Vijay drew against Sivan and the former finished second. IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam scored a full point versus Christy George to claim third place.

A total of 268 players including two IMs took part from various parts of the country, one from Canada and Egypt each, three from the USA. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Warrior Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 25th February to 1st March 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
