Ankit Kumar Singh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st G H Raisoni Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Ankit’s first rating tournament triumph of the year
Ankit Kumar Singh made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Vaibhav Tomar, Shourya Ambone, Kori Murarilal and Kavin Kapoor were trailing by a full point at 7/8 each. Vaibhav drew against Ankit, the latter became champion and the former third. Kori defeated Shourya to finish second.
The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹31000, ₹25000 and ₹20000 each. Venue partner: Hotel The Arindum, Katni.

A total of 271 players took part from all over the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Katni District Chess Association, G H Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation & Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Hotel The Arindum in Katni, Madhya Pradesh on 31st May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
