Javokhir Sindarov finishes FIDE Candidates 2026 with a new record 10/14

Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) had already won FIDE Candidates 2026. In the final round, he made a quick draw against Wei Yi (CHN). Thus finishing the event with a 10/14. It is the highest score at a FIDE Candidates since 2013 when the eight-player double round-robin format was introduced. Anish Giri (NED) scored 8.5/14 to secure second place and Fabiano Caruana (USA) 7.5/14 claimed third.

Javokhir Sindarov broke Ian Nepomniachtchi’s record score of 9.5/14 in 2022, in a modern-day FIDE Candidates since 2013.

Schedule

FIDE Candidates Open and Women will take place from 29th March to 15th April. Tie-breaks, if needed, will be played on 16th April. Rest days are on 2nd, 6th, 10th and 13th April 2026.

Prize fund

The total prize fund is €700000. The top three prizes are €70000, €45000 and €25000. In addition, each player gets €5000 for every half point scored.
