Gaurav V Trivedi scored 9/10 to win 4th Gujarat GM Category C Below 1700 Rating 2026.
Gaurav’s first rating tournament triumph of his career
Five players – Gaurav V Trivedi, Marmik Shah, Ansh Malhotra, Aryan Arun Gadre and Apoorvakumar Rana were the leaders at 8/9 each, going into the last round. Apoorvakumar lost to Gaurav and the latter became the champion. Aryan defeated Ansh to finish second. Ruchit D Acharya drew against Marmik and the latter claimed third place.
The total cash prize fund was ₹5000000, ₹1000000 in Category C (<1700). The top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹80000 and ₹65000 along with a trophy each.

Gaurav V Trivedi scored 9/10, won the tournament on tie-breaks and increased his Elo rating by 63 points

A total of 710 players took part from various parts of India. The four-day ten-round Category C (<1700) Rating tournament was organized by Gujarat State Chess Association at Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 5th to 8th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
