Harshit Raja clear first at 3rd Pozuelo Open 2026
GM Harshit Raja scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 3rd Ciudad de Pozuelo Open Rating 2026.
Harshit’s third triumph of the year
Second seed of the event, GM Harshit Raja was the sole leader 7/8, heading into the final round. FM Andres Ingunza Curro (ESP) and CM Martin Portero Rubio (ESP) were trailing by a half point at 6.5/8 each. Martin lost to Harshit and he became a clear champion, Martin finished third. IM Jose Candela Perez (ESP) drew against Andres and the latter finished second. The top seed of the event, GM Aryan Tari (NOR) had to withdraw due to some personal reasons.
The total participation in the festival was 172 players, 83 in Classical and 89 in Blitz. GM Omar Almeida Quintana (CUB) won the 6th Blitz Rating Open. IM Angel Gabriel Cordoba Roa (COL) and FM Wilver Vargas Rodriguez (CUB) scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks.
The total prize fund was €5000. The top three prizes were €1000, €750 and €500 along with a trophy each. The top three prizes in Blitz were €150, €125 and €100 along with a trophy each.

A total of 83 players including two GMs and three IMs took part from eight countries across the world. The nine-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Club de Ajedrez Pozuelo de Alarcón (C.A.P.A.) at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, Spain from 3rd to 12th July 2026. Rest day was on 8th July. A Blitz Rating Open tournament took place on that day. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
