Iniyan Pa convincingly clinches 6th La Plagne Masters 2026 with a 2691 performance
GM Iniyan Pa scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 6th La Plagne Masters (>1900) 2026.
Three Indians in top five, Ananya Khandelwal clear first in Amateur
GM Iniyan Pa was the sole leader at 7/8, heading into the final round. Eight players – GM Aronyak Ghosh, GM Peng Li Min (SUI), GM Diptayan Ghosh, GM Francesco Sonis (ITA), GM Radoslav Dimitrov (BUL), IM Danyil Mosesov (UKR), GM Daniel Howard Fernandez (FRA) and IM Alexis Tahay (FRA) were trailing by a full point at 6/8 each. Aronyak drew against Iniyan, the former finished fourth and the latter champion. Danyil defeated Daniel to secure second place. GM Luca Moroni Jr. (ITA) defeated Alexis to finish third. Peng drew against Diptayan and the latter claimed fifth place.
Iniyan finished third at this event in 2024, second in 2025 and now champion in 2026. Iniyan is not only a regular at this event but he also kept improving his performance each year.
The total participation was 340 – 134 in Masters (>1900), 128 in Open B (1551-2200) and 78 in Open C (<1600).
The total prize fund was €28000. The top three prizes were €3500, €2500 and €1800 along with a trophy each.

A total of 134 players including 13 GMs, 21 IMs, a WGM and 3 WIMs took part from 19 countries across the world in Masters (>1900). The seven-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by CE du Bassin Annemassien – CABE at Belle Plagne Congress Hall in La Plagne, France from 4th to 10th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
A total of 78 players took part from five countries across the world in Amateur (<1600).
