Kevilekho Zumvu clinches 22nd Nagaland State Rating Championship 2026

Kevilekho Zumvu scored an unbeaten 7/8 to win 22nd Nagaland State Rating Championship 2026.

Kevilekho wins the State title for the second consecutive year

The defending champion, Kevilekho Zumvu was the sole leader 6.5/7, heading into the final round. Atoka H Wotsa and Melesai were trailing by a half point at 6/8 each. Kevilekho drew against Melesai to become a clear champion. Salhuto Nyekha defeated Jitihto Nyekha to finish second. Khrielie Sano won against Atoka H Wotsa to claim third place.

The total prize fund was ₹202000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each.

Kevilekho Zumvu scored a perfect 7/8, finished a half point ahead of the rest and gained 12.2 Elo rating points

A total of 75 players took part from various districts of Nagaland. The three-day eight-round Rating tournament was organized by Nagaland Chess Association at Nagaland Olympic Association Hall in Kohima, Nagaland from 16th to 18th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 45 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
