Tarun V triumphs at 2nd Battle Field Rating Open 2026
Tarun V scored 8/9 to win 2nd Battle Field Rating Open 2026.
Tarun’s second overall, first rating tournament triumph of the year
Prawin K was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Tarun V was the only player trailing by a half point at 7/8. Tarun defeated Prawin to become a clear champion, Prawin was placed second. Kathir Kaman T won against Karuppasamy C to finish third. Magizhini M and Charudharshini R were the only two female players to make a top ten finish. They scored 7/9 each and were placed ninth and tenth respectively according to tie-breaks.
The total prize fund was ₹300001. The top three prizes were ₹30001, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by Mr. J Balakrishnan, President, Salem District Chess Association, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present on the dais included FA B Jayaprakash, Secretary, Battle Field Chess Academy, FA P Emayavarman, President, Battle Field Chess Academy, the prizes were distributed by the esteemed guests amid enthusiastic applause from players, parents, coaches, and chess enthusiasts.

The event was inaugurated by FA B Jayaprakash, Secretary, Battle Field Chess Academy, and FA P Emayavarman, President, Battle Field Chess Academy and Chief Arbiter of the Tournament.

A total of 252 players took part from various parts of the country. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Battle Field Chess Academy at AVS College of Arts and Science in Salem, Tamil Nadu from 3rd to 7th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
