Thomas Beerdsen wins DataBalk Dutch Open 2026, Sammed Shete third
GM Thomas Beerdsen, IM Arthur De Winter and IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete scored 7/9 each at DataBalk Dutch Open 2026. Thomas became champion on tie-breaks, Arthur second and Sammed third.
Three Indians in top ten, Rishiadithya Murali clinches Reserve A
GM Thomas Beerdsen (NED), IM Arthur De Winter (NED) and IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete, all three scored 7/9 each. Thomas and Arthur remained undefeated, while Sammed defeated the top seed, GM Max Warmerdam (NED) in Round 3. Sammed started and finished the event in the same way, by scoring a hat-trick each.
GM S Rohith Krishna and GM Sandipan Chanda are two more Indians to finish in top ten. Rohith scored 6.5/9 to be placed seventh. Sandipan secured tenth place scoring 5.5/9.
16-year-old Rishiadithya Murali scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win Reserve Group A. He won €225 and a trophy.
The top three prizes in Open were €2500, €1750 and €1000 each respectively.

Rishiadithya Murali scored an unbeaten 7.5/9, finished a half point ahead of the competition and increased his Elo rating by 142.4 points
Total 68 players including eight GMs, nine IMs and a WIM took part from 13 countries across the world. The nine-day nine Round Rating Open tournament was organized by ONK Dieren Foundation at Sports hall Theothorne in Dieren, Netherlands from 21st to 29th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
