Vaishali convincingly clinches WR Women’s Chess Tour 2026 Asia Rapid
GM R Vaishali defeated IM Alua Nurman 1.5-0.5 in the Finals to win WR Women Chess Tour 2026 Asia Rapid.
Kateryna Lagno clinches Blitz
The Women’s World Championship Challenger, won all her matches scoring 1.5-0.5. She drew her games with the black pieces and won with white. She defeated IM Irine Sukandar (INA) in Quarterfinals, the 12th Women’s World Chess Champion – Alexandra Kosteniuk (SUI) in the Semifinas and IM Alua Nurman (KAZ) in the Finals. It is also Vaishali’s first triumph in a knockout format.
In the Blitz event, GM Kateryna Lagno defeated GM Alexandra Kosteniuk via Armageddon in the Finals to become the winner. In the Semifinals, Vaishali lost to the eventual winner, Lagno by 3-0.
Both Vaishali and Lagno scored 15 points each and qualified for the Grand Final at Rosenstein Palace in Stuttgart, Germany which will be held on 22nd and 23rd November 2026.
The total prize fund was US$ 20000, part of WR Women’s Chess Tour 2026 — $200000 total across 5 legs (Grand Final: $120000).
