Vaibhav Jayant Raut dominates 2nd Podar Rapid Rating Open 2026
FM Vaibhav Jayant Raut scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 2nd Podar Rapid Rating Open 2026. Kartavya Anadkat, CM Naitik R Mehta, FM Siddhant Gawai and WIM Mrudul Dehankar scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks.
Vaibhav’s third rating tournament triumph of the year
FM Vaibhav Jayant Raut made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Kartavya Anadkat was the sole player trailing by a half point at 7.5/8. Kartavya drew against Vaibhav, the former finished second and the latter became the champion. Sahejveer Singh Maras lost to CM Naitik R Mehta who claimed third place. WIM Mrudul Dehankar is the sole female to make a top ten finish. She scored an impressive 8/9 to be placed fifth.
The total prize fund was ₹150000. The top three prizes were ₹41000, ₹24000 and ₹14000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 366 players including a GM and a WIM took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Podar International School Amravati (Badnera Road) & Podar Prep Wadgaon Branch Yavatmal at Podar International School in Amravati, Maharashtra on 10th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
