Shivansh Basu and Aaditri Majumdar are West Bengal State Under-7 Open and Girls 2026 Champions
Shivansh Basu (Purba Bardhaman), Anish Sarkar (North 24 Parganas) and Jainesh Bhaumik (South 24 Parganas) scored 7/8 each at West Bengal State Under-7 Open Championship 2026. Shivansh became champion on tie-breaks, Anish and Jainesh were placed second and third respectively. In the Girls event, Aaditri Majumdar (Kolkata) scored a perfect 8/8 to become the champion. Udhriti Bhattacharya (Paschim Bardhaman) scored sole 7/8 to secure second place. Trishika Mondal (South 24 Parganas) and D Laashya (Paschim Medinipur) scored 6/8 each. They were placed third and fourth respectively.

5-year-old Anish Sarkar made a perfect start by winning seven games in-a-row. Madhav Mundhara, Shivansh Basu and Jainesh Bhaumik were trailing him by a full point at 6/7 each. Anish lost the final round battle against Shivansh, the latter became the champion and the former second. Jainesh defeated Madhav to be placed third.
Aaditri Majumdar had a full point lead heading into the final round 7/7. Udhriti Bhattacharya was the sole pursuer at 6/7. Sangsthita Nanda lost to Aaditri and the latter became the champion with a perfect score 8/8. Udhriti defeated Shrinithi Biswas to finish second. Arisha Bose lost to Trishika Mondal and the latter claimed third place.

The time control of the tournament was 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
