FIDE Rating List June 2026: Shubhi Gupta storms into Top 50 Women

Arjun Erigaisi has returned to World Top 10 in FIDE Rating list June 2026. He is currently ranked World no.8.

Arjun Erigaisi returns to Top 10, 13 Indians still in Top 100

Arjun Erigaisi returned to World Top ten after his fantastic performance at 31st TePe Sigeman & Co. 2026. He gained 10.4 Elo rating points to become World no.8. R Praggnanandhaa gained 1.7 Elo rating points at Grand Chess Tour Super Chess Classic 2026. Currently, he is playing 14th Norway Chess which still has three more rounds left.

World Champion, D Gukesh maintained his place at World no.19 as he did not play any Classical tournaments last month, until Norway Chess which is currently underway.

Nihal Sarin and Aravindh Chithambaram started playing 7th Stepan Avagyan Memorial Round-Robin at the end of May. So the rating changes will be reflected in next month’s list.

Karthikeyan Murali gained 13 Elo rating points in total combining two tournaments – Sardinia World Chess Festival and 1st Lecci Open 2026. He climbed 16 places from World no.69 to 53.

Pranav Venkatesh increased his Elo rating by 3.8 points by winning Montenegro Premier League 2026. He moved up by four places from World no.58 to 54.

Pranesh M added 12.2 Elo rating points at 1st Lecci Open 2026. He ascended by 27 places, from World no.99 to 72.

Women: Eight Indians in Top 100

Four Indians are still in top 20. They are – GM Humpy Koneru, World no.6, GM Divya Deshmukh, World no.11, GM R Vaishali, World no.13 and GM Harika Dronavalli, World no.17 among women. Humpy is currently playing her first Classical event at Norway Women Chess since FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025.

Divya Deshmukh moved up by a place, although she only started playing Norway Chess Women in late May.

The Women’s World Championship Challenger, R Vaishali maintained her place at World no.13 as she did not play any event after winning the FIDE Women’s Candidates 2026.

Harika Dronavalli dropped 3.7 Elo rating points. In spite of that, she climbed two places to World no.17.

WIM Shubhi Gupta has had a fantastic month. She scored two WGM-norms and an IM-norm in Germany, gaining a whopping 183.92 Elo rating points. She moved her rating from 2242 to 2426, storming into World no.32 among Women.

IM Vantika Agrawal gained a combined total of 20.7 Elo rating points from Sardinia World Chess Festival and 1st Lecci Open 2026. She climbed 17 places from World no.74 to 57.

India had the no.2 position in May 2026 FIDE Rating list in terms of average rating of top ten players in the Open, 18 Elo rating points behind the USA. The gap got reduced to 15 in this list. India was also no.2 in the Women category. The gap got reduced from 85 to 71. India is also no.2 in the Mixed category. The gap got reduced from 22 to 15 Elo rating points with China.
